In Search Of A Tangible God

OK, this is a re-hash of the original document that I uploaded to the old “board” style site. The number of visitors to that page was way above anything that I expected, so I figure that I might as well keep the thing available. Having re-read it, though, I've seen plenty of areas in which it could be improved and so here is ISOATG Mk II.

In spite of several emails claiming that I would burn in Hell for my heresy, I'm still here and, if anything, it's a little on the chilly side.  To those correspondents I say this: Hell is here, you silly buggers!  Where else would you expect to see children dying from drinking dirty water, or being abused by those of twisted mind?

Anyway.. on with the essay:

Let's not worry about exactly what happens in black holes and so on, but let's accept that they destroy matter and convert it back into basic energy – the smallest units imaginable which, I think, are called quarks. If a BH changes energy into something smaller still, that's fine by me, but I notice that some form of energy is still in the end picture, which is good because energy has SUBSTANCE and that means that it can be classed as a “body.”

Now, please, assume the existence of a previous universe and a technologically advanced race needing to leave in a hurry because a big black hole is approaching to convert them all. A black hole will seize, swallow and convert anything that has a wave or particle form.

There are two phenomena that do not have waviform or particulate existence. One is gravity and the simple demonstration of this is that if a black hole could capture and convert gravity then it would destroy itself upon the very instant of its own creation.

The other insubstantial phenomenon is Thought, which should not be confused with ordinary brain activity, which is electrical and therefore particulate/waviform in nature.

As nothing material – of either particulate or waviform construction – can survive transit through a black hole, it is logical to assume that Thought can. Thought, having been created, needs only a body to anchor itself to and, remember, anything that has substance is, in effect, a body. I strongly believe that Thought came through the back-end of the black hole that destroyed one universe and initiated our own Big Bang.

That Thought would have been the collected and linked consciousnesses of many, if not all, of the inhabitants of that former universe. Those survivors are, in my belief, the creature that we've referred to as God for centuries. I do not believe It to be exclusively male in Its form, which is why I shall refer to It as “It”. How many sexes there might be, who knows?

What I do believe is that, as we evolved into thinking, rationalising creatures, the God realised that It could, once again, take on a physical form. I believe that each of us carries a “passenger” - a tiny element of the overall creature that we call God - around ourselves.

Think about it, please. A creature that has no substance of Its own would not need to shield Itself from knocks and bumps, and so can live outside the host body like a kind of invisible overcoat. This is, in my belief, the nature of the phenomenon we know as the aura.  I believe that It joins with us at the moment of birth, via the still-open fontanelle, and links Itself with us by “rooting” Itself in some way within our brains.

I think It joins with us in order to experience and learn about our ever-changing world. It might be merely a parasite, along for the ride, but I can't quite convince myself of that. I prefer to think of It as a kind of symbiont, perhaps having the job of collecting and collating the vast amounts of information that we take in every single moment of our lives, ditching whatever is irrelevant to our survival or the task at hand, and siphoning off the important stuff.

There is a process, called Gas Discharge Vector Photography, which permits one to view the “aura” that surrounds all things. Not just living creatures and plants, but also objects that we ordinarily perceive as inanimate. How else would – say – a ruby ring “store” information about its former owner(s) that a skilled psychometricist can extract later?  Remember, anything that has substance can be defined as a body and can therefore be a host.  Last time I checked, a GDVP set-up would set one back about $4,000.

There is a saying that “God is all around us” which, when you consider the number of people in the world and take on board my belief, is entirely true. You could touch the person standing next to you and be touching another element of The God.

For me, viewing the God in this way changes It from an abstract concept into a real and living creature in Its own right, one that exists here with us rather than away upon some metaphysical cloud surrounded by naked cherubs (which would likely get it arrested in the real world!)

If you can share this view then I think you will find greater understanding of your own faith or world belief, and that you will be able to see “links” between your own faith and those of other people. You will be able to recognise that we are, in truth, all equal in that we all hold a part of the creature that we, in various ways and names, call God. This acceptance would bear out the reported words of Christ who said that whatever he could do, so could we all. I wonder if it's only a matter of believing it strongly enough? Probably. Who wants to give it a try?

The difference of opinion seems to be over whose prophet was the best. I hadn't realised that there needed to even be any competition. Each of them, from Christ through to Joseph Smith, has had a consistent message, which is that we should accept and acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being that cares about us. That doesn't mean that the Overmind Itself should be providing fish and bread for the starving, but that WE should because that's really what the element of the God that rides with each of us would like to see happening.

There should be no assertion that believing in Christianity or Islam or Buddhism or anything else is the only way to life everlasting because all that has achieved for centuries is the premature despatch of humans into that fabled domain. And, because certain religions are a couple of centuries behind others in their thinking, this wanton murder and destruction is still happening.  I'm not sure that they don't hack away a piece of their own perceived afterlife with every blow that they strike. In this way, I believe, they actually deny themselves entry to the promised milk and honey existence that they martyr themselves for, because in taking another life, they deny themselves the right to enter their Promised Land by leaving no room for themselves.

The assertion should be that we should accept and acknowledge the presence of the Supreme Being that gave rise to each of these forms of belief in the first place.  This is, after all, what each prophet was tasked with telling our forebears. Worship/pay tribute to the Supreme One, not to Christ, M--, or even Joseph Smith.

Worship:  There's a word that has been corrupted by the leaders of religions over the course of time.  Its root is WORTHSHIP and it should mean not that one should idolise the Supreme Being, but instead should be advertising one's own WORTHINESS to rejoin the Host.  Praying should not be about asking for favours, but for allowing oneself to be inspected for flaws.  The successes we wish for must be made by ourselves.

There are those who cannot bring themselves to such a “surrender,” but maybe they don't need to. After all, something created the ball of mud that we all stand on, and whether or not it was the action of a metaphysical creature is neither here nor there. If you prefer to believe that it was the combination of different forces working in the expanding universe, who's to say you're wrong?

But: Cause and effect. Nothing happens without there being some action to make it happen. In our universe of physical laws it is simply not possible, so you have to ask yourself, then, what CAUSED those forces to begin working alongside and against each other?  Combined mental force of billions of refugee consciousnesses/egos/whatever?

Fine, the universe was contained in a black hole until something – most likely friction – caused it to explode and give us a space to live in and explore. But who/what caused that friction?  The combined mental force of billions of consciousnesses/egos/whatever, hanging on grimly to each available particle of whatever form of substance still existed inside the transit-tube of the black hole?

I often think that the reason more than a few people cannot accept the existence of the God is because of this recognition of cause and effect.  The creature we call God had, by our universe's laws, to come from somewhere.  I believe that the "somewhere" was a previous universe which had lived its life and was now at the point of total collapse, as already described above.

It makes perfect sense when you consider that the natural order of our universe is to recycle everything, from dead leaves to whole stars, the latter of which give birth to the materials for new stars and worlds even as they explode into death.  All that's needed, then, is to expand that recognition of cycles to the universal level and beyond.

It gives rise to the question of how many times the creature we call God might have tyravelled the same life-pathway, from entering a new universe, to finding a worthwhile host species, to live and learn with that species as it learns to make Thought portable and transferable.  We already do this in many ways, from the words like these you are reading, to faxes, dance, song, radio/TV broadcasts...

In all forms of communication we seek to extend our personal influence over others or to attract those of similar mind-sets.  The more we do this, the stronger our egos will become until, eventually, we develop a means to free them from the flesh safely for certain periods and, thus, once again become ready to make the transit from one universe to the next, as parts of the God creature.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  That says, loud and clear, that the human creature is not what makes the transfer between flesh and Host.  It is therefore logical that what does make the journey is that which rides with us while we live: the particular ego that has joined with us at birth and which we come to call the soul.  Perhaps the information and experiences that it takes with it have "flavours" and perhaps it might be that those who have done evil in the human world are rejected as unpalatable by the Host and have to return to try again.

Or perhaps not - that's only a theory that would tie in nicely with what I believe. It does serve to explain the concept that we call Karma.

There you go - that's all you're getting from me on this.  I'm not setting myself up as any kind of prophet, nor do I have any desire to start up any type of diverse cult or church.  What I believe is open to anyone to take on board if they wish, or to reject if it doesn't suit them.  No preachers or ministers - and definitely not annoying missionaries!  Not required.

All that's needed for this belief is the ability to think about it, realise that we all should be working to improve ourselves and our society, and then to work to shape one's efforts and educate one's children accordingly.

If anyone out there decides that this makes sense to them as well and wants to write in privately, I'll reply but please bear in mind that I receive something like four hundred emails a day and I deal with each one in turn.

If anyone ended up on this site expecting to find stuff to do with the Good News Bible, this is as close as you're going to get, by the way.  The site is not entirely about religion or belief, it's mainly about giving folks an emotional lift by showing that in spite of the crappy economical environment we live in, there are still some pretty good things going on out there.  This page is here because I found something that works and makes me feel better, and something like that is worth sharing.  I leave it up to readers, though, to take it or leave it.  I have no intention of trying to convince anyone by harping on about it.
